New in Live 10.1:. Tracks with sidechain routings can now be frozen. The Arrangement Overview is now resizable, and its contents now always fit inside the box exactly. When moving through the Arrangement using the arrow keys, the view will scroll to keep the selected track visible, if necessary. Clicking on the timeline ruler will pause follow. In arrangement, when calling “Select All” (e.g.

By pressing Cmd+A), if there is a locator (cue marker) behind all material, the time selection will extend up to that marker.New in Live 10.0:. Warped Arrangement audio clips can now be stretched by holding down Shift while dragging their border. It is now possible to move Arrangement clips within a time selection using the arrow left/right keys. To toggle grid snapping, hold down the “CMD” (Mac) / “Alt” (PC) modifier key. It is now possible to slide the contents of an Arrangement clip within the clip’s boundaries, by holding “Alt+Shift” (Mac) / “Ctrl+Shift” (PC) then clicking and dragging the lower half of the clip.

To toggle grid snapping, hold down the “CMD” (Mac) / “Alt” (PC) modifier key. In the Arrangement, the “Reverse” command can now be performed on a time selection via the new “R” shortcut key. When using Reverse on a partially-selected clip in Arrangement, only the selected part is reversed. Arrangement clips can now be moved by dragging the upper half of the clip content area. The mouse cursor changes to a hand to indicate the clip’s draggable area, where time selections can also be made via a single-click. Fades have been removed from the Fades/Devices chooser in the Arrangement. Clip fades are now always available, if the track is at least three units tall.

Introduced fade edge handles in the Arrangement, which allow users to change the duration of a fade in (via the “Fade In Start Handle”) and fade out (via the “Fade Out End Handle”) without affecting the fade peaks. The “Activate/Deactivate clip(s)” command now only (de)activates the selected portion of Arrangement clips. Previously, the entire clip would be (de)activated, even if only part of it was selected. The Edit menu’s Loop Selection shortcut “CMD+L” (Mac) / “CTRL+L” (PC) also turns OFF the Arrangement Loop if no new selection is made (in which case it would loop that selection). Previously, the shortcut could only enable the Arrangement Loop, but not disable it.

It is now possible to enable MIDI note chasing via the “Chase MIDI Notes” command in the Options menu. It is possible to import an audio or MIDI file via the Create menu. Depending on the track type, this command is named “Import MIDI File” or “Import Audio File”. The file will be inserted either where at the Insert Marker position (Arrangement View) or in the currently selected empty clip slot (Session View). The Shift key is the new global Mac and Windows fine-tune modifier. Double-clicking on a MIDI track in Arrangement View now creates a new MIDI clip.

MIDI and Key mappings can now be assigned to the Lock Envelopes switch. Improved the performance of dragging and dropping clips in the Arrangement.

New in Live 10.1:. When right-clicking on an automation lane, the context menu now reveals a number of pre-defined shapes that can be inserted into a given time selection.

If no time selection exists, the length of the shape corresponds to the current grid quantization. It is now possible to transform automation horizontally and vertically. Upon creating a time selection inside an automation lane, handles will appear, which allow stretching and scaling the selected automation. In automation envelopes, the strength of S-Shapes that were inserted via the context menu can be adjusted with the Opt/Alt curve modifier.

Added buttons to the Clip View that toggle between automation and modulation envelopes in the Envelope Editor. The modulation and modulation LED now appear in a modulation-specific color. In addition, modulation envelopes are now shown by default for Arrangement clips, even if they do not have events. When clicking on a control in a clip’s Sample Box in the Clip View (e.g., Clip Gain) the corresponding modulation envelope will be selected and displayed in the Clip Envelope Control chooser. Improved free-hand drawing of automation envelopes: When drawing automation with a deactivated grid, Live will insert fewer breakpoints and tries to use curved segments whenever possible. This will significantly reduce the overall amount of breakpoints and makes it easier to edit the automation envelope afterwards. Added a “Simplify Envelope” command to the context menu of automation envelopes within a time selection, which removes unnecessary breakpoints and tries to use curved segments whenever possible.

It is now possible to edit the value of a time selection in an automation lane with no events. When right-clicking near the dotted line inside the selection, the “Edit Value” context menu command allows entering a value for the selected segment.

It is now possible to edit the value of an automation breakpoint or segment using a context menu and keyboard. When hovering over an automation and a ‘preview’ breakpoint is shown, users can right click and access an “Add Value” context menu item.

The new breakpoint can then be added with the entered value. Stretching time in the Envelope Editor is now possible with the Automation Transform tool, and the Note Stretch markers have been removed from the Envelope Editor. They are still available in the Note Editor.New in Live 10.0:. Introduced a global automation mode. In the Arrangement, the visibility of all automation lanes is now toggled via the Automation Mode button or the “A” key. New in Live 10.1:.

Live now has a new option in the Rendering Options section of the Export Audio/Video dialog: “Include return and master effects”. If selected, every track will be rendered as if it was soloed and the master track was being recorded. When a track with a sidechain is frozen, unfrozen, and frozen again, the track’s audio is now always re-rendered. This ensures that changes in the sidechain source track are considered in the new rendered file.New in Live 10.0:. It is now possible to export MP3, FLAC and WAVPACK.

Upon saving a Set using “Save Live Set”, “Save Live Set As” or “Save a Copy”, the previous version gets moved into a backup folder of the current Project. Up to 10 old versions of the Set are stored in this folder.

When saving a Live Set, the undo history is no longer cleared. New in Live 10.1:. It is now possible to drop an audio file onto Wavetable’s Oscillator tabs, and use it as a wavetable.

By default, the wavetable is processed and smoothed. However, Wavetable also provides a “Raw” decoding option. Added a new “Rand” modulation source to Wavetable’s MIDI tab, which generates a random value when a note starts. Introduced Delay, a new audio effect device for Live. Delay combines the functionalities of the Simple Delay and Ping Pong Delay devices into one. Additionally, it provides the ability to modulate delay time and filter frequency with a built-in LFO.

It comes with a highpass filter toggle, a low shelf filter, a semi-parametric mid band and a hybrid high shelf/lowpass filter. Added a Loop Mode chooser, Loop Time slider and Beat Sync/Rate slider to the Amplitude Envelope in Simpler’s Classic Playback Mode.

In the Echo device, the Dry/Wet knob now features a context menu to switch to “Equal-Loudness”. When enabled, a 50/50 mix will sound equally loud for most signals, instead of being attenuated. When mapping a parameter to an empty macro, the macro assumes the full range of the target parameter, and will be set to the current value of the target parameter.New in Live 10.0:. Introduced Wavetable, a new Instrument for Live. Wavetable is a dual oscillator wavetable synthesizer with flexible modulation, that brings harmonically rich and expansive modern sounds to Live’s sonic palette. Introduced Echo, a new audio effect device for Live.

Echo is a modulation delay that is capable of a wide range of sounds, from tape-saturated and bucket-brigade styles, right through to modern, clean and digital delays. Echo includes an LFO that modulates filter frequency and delay time, and an envelope follower that can be blended with the LFO. Noise and Wobble parameters simulate sound artifacts found in vintage delays. Also included are a distortion switch, a reverb, stereo width control, a ducking compressor, a gate, a feedback signal inversion switch, and a toggle for repitching and crossfading repeats. Introduced Drum Buss, a new audio effect for Live. An analog-style drum processor, Drum Buss is designed to add body and character to a group of drums, while gluing them together in a tight mix.

Drum Buss combines the most used drum processing tools into a single device, which includes distortion, a compressor, low-frequency enhancement, a transient shaper and a control for dampening high frequency response. Introduced Pedal, a new audio effect device for Live. Pedal is a guitar distortion effect that can also be used in less conventional settings, e.g. As a standalone effect on synths or drums. Pedal has three different modes: Overdrive, Distortion and Fuzz. Each mode was inspired by distortion pedals with their own distinct sonic characteristics, including: warm and smooth, tight and aggressive, and bluesy yet broken. Introduced the improved Utility device for Live.

The Gain control can now be adjusted from -infinite dB to +35 dB. The Left / Right Phase buttons now invert Utility’s input signal instead of its output signal. Furthermore, the layout has been redesigned to fit new features, including a Mono switch, a Bass Mono switch, a Bass Mono Frequency slider, a Bass Mono Audition button, and a Balance knob control (which replaces the Panorama slider). Older Sets will continue to sound the same due to an added legacy mode. Older Utility devices can be upgraded via a button in the title bar. Extended EQ Eight’s minimum frequency down to 10 Hz.

When loading a short sample into an empty Simpler instance, Warp and Loop are now deactivated: only long samples inherit “Warp On” and “Loop On” from an existing audio Clip or a pre-existing.asd file, as before. Additionally, when a sample is already loaded into Simpler, replacing it with a new one will retain all the previous settings related to warping or looping. New in Live 10.1:. Scale intervals can now be observed from Max for Live.New in Live 10.0:. Max is now bundled in Live, and no longer requires a separate installation. Max has been optimized so that devices load faster and use less CPU. Max is now loaded at startup, instead of when the first Max device is loaded.Added a set of Max for Live control and modulation devices to the Core Library.

Introduced system folders for VST3 plug-in scanning. Also added a button to the “Plug-Ins” Preferences tab to enable and disable system folders. Introduced sidechain support for all plug-in architectures, and added a sidechain view to the left of the X/Y control in the plug-in device view. Additional audio input and output buses from VST3 plug-ins can be used from track “Audio To” and “Audio From” routing choosers, as with VST2 and AU plug-ins. For VST3 plug-ins with less than 65 parameters, the parameters are now auto-assigned after instantiation. Also, when copying a VST3 plug-in or loading a Set with VST3 plug-ins, the parameter assignment (and value) is retained. Furthermore, VST3 parameter automation is now available.

VST3 plug-ins are now scanned via a separate background process. Plug-ins that crash during the scanning process no longer cause Live to crash. In addition, Live will not wait during startup for the plug-in scan to finish, which means having a large number of installed plug-ins will not slow down Live anymore (this is only implemented for VST3 for now). The background scanning can be disabled with the debug option “-DisableBackgroundPluginScanner”. New in Live 10.1:. Added a new “Enable only while recording” menu item to the Metronome’s pull-down and context menus. The Computer MIDI Keyboard is now always off at application launch. It can now be toggled with the “M” key.

On Windows, authorizing Live after reinstalling your operating system does not require to use up another authorization. Updated FLAC to 1.3.2 and enabled code optimizations. Live no longer forces macOS to use the discrete graphics card in Multi-GPU machines such as MacBook Pros. This reduces energy use and heat, and improves battery life.
