I've been playing for 6 years on my ddrum d2 kit and it's about time I upgrade to a higher end kit. There's so many different choices to choose from, but I have no idea which kit will sound video because every video I find is mostly eq'd and processed. I'm looking for a kit that's around 1200$ so I can still save some money for cymbals.Any help would be appreciated.

Good

I was thinking about a ddrum reflex kit or a tama silverstar kit. Thanks!Edit: I play mostly fast jungle/dnb style beats and sometimes jazzy stuff.

Go for a used kit. A couple years ago I picked up a beautiful Japanese Tama Starclassic Maple 7 piece kit for $1300. You can easily find similar deals, and even better if you look for them.Personally, I prefer the sound of Maple drums, and have used my maples for recording and they sound great. I'm not going to suggest any particular brands, because everybody has their own preferences, but I love my StarclassicsAlso, try to stay away from buying a kit you can't see in person.

Make sure the kit sounds good and has no missing parts or tuning problems before you buy the kit.
