What is Fallout (for Mac OS 7-9)?

Considered one of the first true cRPG games. That is, it's not the adaptation of ADnD process to new medium.
Somewhat lacking in interface polish, still considered more stylish and authentic than FallOut 2 — less pop-culture references and gags, more wasteland and existential dread. Art is better, too.
Every consequential game in the series suffered from lore creep — by F4 it was one huge postmodernist mess with too much suspense of disbelief required.
