No.The OC capabilities of a motherboard are determined by the bios, which is supplied by the motherboard manufacturer(and/or dictated by the OEM purchaser, as this board is manufactured by either Foxconn or ASUS, but the bios is dictated/written by HP). The chipset only determines the potential, not the actual capabilities.

Virtually ALL OEM motherboards are crippled intentionally by the bios dictated by the OEM 'manufacturer', even 'performance' OEM computers like the Alienware line of Dell, have almost exclusively crippled bios's.Also, some versions of this particular board are very problematic, so much so that HP ordered a revision to it to correct them. Also, this board only supports the i7-920 and i7-940 cpu's, according to the official support specifications.

I have an older HP Pavilion Elite e9290f workstation that is currently running an i7 920 @ 2.67Ghz Processor/ LGA1366 Socket in a IPMTB-TK (Truckee) Motherboard w/ Intel X58 Express Chipset. I'm considering a processor upgrade that will balance the best price/performance without risking stability. HP's specs say this computer can be upgraded to 'Intel Core i7 9xx series (Bloomfield, includes Extreme Edition)'.I'm using this machine to edit and color grade video. I would very much appreciate advice anyone can offer on making the best decision before I actually buy a processor. Thanks,KMartinSystem Specs:HP Pavilion Elite e9290f DesktopIPMTB-TK (Truckee) Motherboard w/ Intel X58 Express Chipseti7 920 @ 2.67Ghz Processor/ LGA1366 Socket24GB Crucial PC3-1066 non-ECC System RAMGTX GeForce 1070 8MB GDDR5 Graphic Card500W PSWin 10 Pro 64bit on Crucial 1TB SSD12TB(3x4) Striped RAID.
